ND Grad

Example of ND Grad in use on Qantas documentaryThe ND Grad (neutral density) is designed to work like an optical graduated filter on a camera.

It uses The Grading Sweet’s Filter Factor control to set the strength of the strength of the effect, with 1/8th being a very subtle increase in the shading and #3 being a very heavy blue with very little of the original image coming through.

The Softness setting controls the amount of blur on the edge of the colour gradient.

The Position adjusts the grad in or out of shot.

Angle rotates the filter to any angle.

With these four controls it is possible to create shading effects that are natural and stylish.
